With his professional journey at the most eminent and distinguished institutions of the country such as Air Force Hospital, Kalaikunda, Base Hospital, Srinagar, Air Force Hospital, Kanpur and Command Hospital, Air Force Bangalore wherein he had initiated the vascular department as well as the endovascular intervention lab, Dr. Anand is an expert when it comes to performing all kinds of complex vascular open and endovascular procedures, including his well-known expertise in varicose veins and diabetic foot management. First M.Ch. in Vascular Surgery in North India and the Armed Forces as well as first vascular Surgeon in the Indian Air Force.
Only surgeon to have served at the prestigious Base Hospital, Srinagar during Kargil War and operational mobilisation after parliament attack seeing maximum trauma cases.
Honoured with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) commendation for operating complex vascular trauma and war injuries as a general surgeon in 2004.
Devised a Vascular Trauma Score during M.Ch. (Madras Medical College) which contributed to amore scientific & objective management of extremity vascular trauma.
Started the Vascular Department in the Air Force including Endovascular Intervention Lab during his tenure as a Vascular Surgeon at the Command Hospital, Air Force, Bangalore
As HOD of one of the largest vascular centres in the country at Army Hospital (R&R), set up three hybrid OTs, the first-of-its-kind at any government institution. Also trained more than twelve DNB vascular surgery residents during his tenure as well as performed complex vascular open and endovascular procedures including one of the largest series of abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid endarterectomies and carotid body tumours in the country.
Has done one of the largest series of brachiobasilic transposition of arteriovenous fistula in world literature.
Headed MH Jalandhar (860-bedded - the third largest hospital of the Indian Armed Forces) during the COVID-19 pandemic for 2 years which included management of beds, men, medical manpower & materials, successfully steering the hospital in these extremely difficult times.
