What is Embryo Freezing?

What to Expect From the Embryo Donation Process?

Before the Procedure

Egg Donor and Sperm Donor may have to undergo different kinds of screening before the procedure, such as:

Ovarian reserve testing
Semen analysis
Infectious disease screening
Uterine exam

During the Procedure

Ovarian Stimulation: The egg donor is prescribed certain medications so that eggs are matured and eggs are prepared for fertilization. During her 2nd or 3rd day of the menstrual cycle, when the follicles look promising, then egg donor will receive an injection of hCG, which aid in maturing the eggs.
Egg Retrieval: After the injection, egg retrieval will be scheduled, during which the egg donor will be placed under sedation, and eggs will be collected via an ultrasound-guided needle procedure.
Sperm Collection: The semen of the man will be collected, and it will be washed using treatments, and then the eggs will be placed in a special culture for fertilization. The pregnancy will be conceived through an IVF procedure.
Embryo Transfer: If frozen embryos are used, then the fertilized eggs are frozen and stored for later use. After fertilization, our embryologist will select the healthiest embryos and transfer these to the uterus (women getting pregnant).

After the procedure

After the embryo transfer, you can start your normal daily activities. The success of any IVF procedure depends on various factors such as your age, cause of infertility, and previous treatment results.

Are there any Risks concerning the Procedure?
