The woman will be taking birth control pills or injectable medication that may prevent the ovulation cycle before treatment. The doctor will help you regulate the ovulation so that eggs are not lost before the retrieval.

During the In vitro fertilization (IVF) Procedure

An IVF procedure usually involves several steps, including; ovarian stimulation, egg collection, sperm collection, fertilization, and embryo transfer. Generally, the whole cycle of IVF can take about two to three weeks, and if required, more than one cycle has to be undertaken.

For different people, different techniques are used in IVF. It depends on whether your donor eggs, sperm, or embryos are being involved. Also, some situations may arise where the cycle is being canceled, or there is not enough follicles growth, or there is a high risk of serious ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

  • Ovarian Stimulation: The woman is prescribed certain medications so that eggs are matured and eggs are prepared for fertilisation. During her 2nd or 3rd day of menstrual cycle, when the follicles look promising, then women will receive an injection of hCG, which aid in maturing the eggs.
  • Egg Retrieval: After the injection, egg retrieval will be scheduled, during which you will be placed under sedation, and eggs will be collected via an ultrasound-guided needle procedure.
  • Sperm Collection: The semen of the man will be collected, and it will be washed using treatments, and then the eggs will be placed in a special culture for fertilization.
  • Embryo Transfer: After fertilization, our embryologist will select the healthiest embryos and transfer these to the uterus.

After the In vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure

After the embryo transfer, you can start your normal daily activities. The success of any IVF procedure depends on various factors such as your age, cause of infertility, and previous treatment results.
